Steve Clarke's side overtook the Welsh for the first time in eight years in the Rankings earlier this year

Scotland will drop back behind Wales in this month's FIFA Rankings and will fall three places to 34th following their third defeat in a row to France this week.

Steve Clarke's side overtook the Welsh for the first time in eight years in the rankings earlier this year after their sensational start to the Euro 2024 qualifiers where they won their first five games in a row. It saw Scotland smash into the top 30 earlier in June in the world football's governing body's list of the 207 footballing nations in the world. Last month, Scotland were in 31st place.

However, following friendly losses to England and France and a Euro 2024 defeat in Spain, Scotland will fall to 34th. And after Wales' win over Croatia this week, they will leapfrog Scotland by going up five places into 28th spot. Scotland will also find themselves below African nations Algeria and Tunisia when the rankings are announced later this month. England will remain in fourth place behind leaders Argentina, France and Brazil.
