Researchers observe exotic bound states in ultracold polar molecules for the first time nature

and may lead to a new crossover from a dipolar Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer superfluid to a BEC of tetramers. We have observed a new type of universal scattering resonance between ultracold microwave-dressed polar molecules that is associated with FL tetramer bound states in the long-range potential well. The resonances are highly tunable via microwave power, frequency and polarization, which makes them a versatile tool for controlling molecular interactions.

The waveguide is fabricated from copper-coated glass-fibre-reinforced epoxy laminate. The inner dimensions of the waveguide are 33 × 33 × 58 mm. The width of the waveguide is chosen such that the cut-off frequency of the transverse electric mode is below the rotational transition frequency of the molecules at 5.64 GHz and that the microwave field strength at the position of the molecules is optimal.

Non-linear effects of secondary organic aerosol formation and properties in multi-precursor systems - Nature CommunicationsNon-linear effects of secondary organic aerosol formation and properties in multi-precursor systems - Nature CommunicationsTiny airborne particles play a critical role in two major environmental issues: climate change and air pollution. Our study highlights the important, yet often overlooked non-linear interaction of organic compounds on the formation of such particles.
