There's only one Jacksonville team that's ranked first overall in its region, and it's one that's no stranger to playoff success: Bishop Kenny.
Barring an unexpected collapse, all four teams look like solid picks to be playing into the postseason.The area's large-school district contains four of its top teams so far: Atlantic Coast, Bartram Trail, Creekside and Mandarin. Is there room for more than two in the postseason? With stars like Jenna Otts, Tyler Patterson, Mia Watson and Morgan Stephens on the court, the District 1-7A tournament could be among the most intense on the First Coast.Possibly the most surprising team to appear on the outside looking in was Providence. The Stallions are 10th in Region 1-3A, so if the season ended today, their only chance at a playoff berth would be the automatic bid from winning the District 2-3A tournament.
Matches on Thursday against Creekside, Sept. 27 against Episcopal and Oct. 3 against Fernandina Beach could be crucial for Providence.
