The Fantastic Four’s powers have always had a small element of body horror, but a new cover by Alex Ross has shown a version of Marvel’s first family that’s uniquely terrifying. These new designs not only serve as a nod to the team’s genre roots, but are also a showcase of why having Ross do horror is so specifically effective.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In the cover, Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman have become an elongated nervous system and skeleton, respectively, while the Human Torch appears inhuman, a formless body wreathed in flame. Meanwhile, the Thing has suffered the worst fate, a barely humanoid mound of misshapen rocks, only legible by the shape of his limbs, a single eye, and what might be a few teeth.
