On the nation’s biggest performance stage Sunday, a captioning mistake outraged many viewers just prior to Arlington native and country star Mickey Guyton’s stirring rendition of the national anthem.
Before kickoff, Jhené Aiko, a soul singer-songwriter performed “America the Beautiful.” NBC cameras panned to Guyton, who was looking on, and the graphic identified her as Aiko for a few seconds. The camera eventually found Aiko but not before fans of each called out NBC for its error.Immediately, fans of both singers on Twitter called out NBC for its error.
One fan tweeted: “Ahhh the network couldn’t tell the difference between Jhene Aiko and Mickey Guyton #SuperBowl.”Too bad the same couldn't be said for whoever wound up confusing for her Jhene Aiko.
