With Fanatics, Jay-Z and Lebron James as backers, Mitchell & Ness hires a Nike and Jordan Brand executive as CEO to grow its vintage sports apparel lines.
Mitchell & Ness, the merchandise brand known for its throwback and vintage jersey and sports apparel collections, has hired Jordan Brand executive Eli Kumekpor as its new CEO.
Acquired by Fanatics in 2022 in a deal that saw celebrities and athletes like Jay-Z, Lebron James and Kevin Durant also become investors, Mitchell & Ness has looked to grow its collection of sports licensing rights with new and expanded deals with the NHL and MLB. Leaning on lessons from his time at Nike, Kumekpor said Mitchell & Ness will look to not only further lean into vintage and nostalgia, but also find ways to include current players in its collections.
Mitchell & Ness, the lifestyle clothing brand known for its throwback and vintage jerseys and apparel that was acquired by Fanatics last year, has hiredKumekpor, who most recently served as the global vice president and general manager of Jordan Brand's men's business, will replace former CEO Kevin Wulff, who joined Fanatics when Mitchell & Ness was acquired and is now retiring.
