Niall McEneaney was found unresponsive shortly after 2.40am on St Patrick's Day.
The family of a GAA coach killed in a hit and run have asked mourners to wear club jerseys to his funeral. Niall McEneaney was struck by a vehicle at Rathmullen Road in Drogheda, Co Louth in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 17. He was found unresponsive shortly after 2.40am and was pronounced dead following the arrival of emergency services.
The funeral notice said he will be 'reposing at the home of his parents, Matson Lodge from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday and Friday. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 11.30am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial afterwards in Newtown Cross Lawn Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Drogheda Animal Rescue.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage tracing the movements of a suspect and vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run which left a GAA coach dead will prove vital in the investigation, sources say. A ‘vehicle of interest’ was later recovered and investigators are working to determine if the garda, who is based in the northwest region, was driving the car at the time of the collision.
