A Fairfield County judge denies a state request to halt Columbus newly enacted gun restrictions.
A Fairfield County judge has denied the state of Ohio's request for a preliminary injunction to block the city of Columbus' recently enacted gun restrictions.
“We respect the judge’s decision and will continue to defend the rights of our City and its residents to pursue safety measures that make sense for us here in Columbus," he said.passed legislation that would essentially ban magazines of 30 rounds or more. It would also require safe gun storage around children, and criminalize giving or selling firearms to anyone prohibited from owning them.
In his decision on Friday, Fairfield County Common Pleas Judge Richard E. Berens wrote that based on four legal standards, he found it unlikely that the state would be able to prevail in the case.
