Dave Newhouse and Dolich will talk about their book amid Athletics fans’ prevailing angry sentiment and efforts to keep their team in town.
The message was amplified this week at a “Unite the Bay” protest game at Oracle Park. What started as a campaign on social media grew into an event at Giant’s stadium that brought rival fans together for a common cause — keeping the Athletics in Oakland.
Two guys who know much about the city’s struggles to keep sports franchises will speak about that in the Montclair Library at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23. Retired sportswriter Dave Newhouse and Andy Dolich, the Athletics’ former marketing vice president, will discuss their new book “Goodbye, Oakland: Winning, Wanderlust and a Sports Town’s Fight for Survival.”A new shop is opening on Medau Place in Montclair, in the space formerly occupied by Pelago.
