The Boys star Nathan Mitchell reacts to Black Noir fan controversy
, Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell said:"There’s so much of Black Noir... so much life that could be explored.
"I often imagined there being this little mini-spin-off of the secret life of Black Noir where he tries to function like a normal human being but also has to go off and kill people on the side – and the struggles with that. "But it’s funny because at the beginning of season 3, I had a conversation with Eric [Kripke], and he told me what was going to happen. I mourned the character. I needed a few days to just process that, and comes to terms with it. And then it’s just really enjoying the time you’re spending with the character before that happens.
"But on the day, I remember getting to set, and it felt like someone was dying. There was just an energy in the room for me – I could feel it. I could feel it, like somebody’s leaving. And then we got into the scene, and obviously Anthony [Starr] was phenomenal. We just got into the moves of that." Looking at the response from fans towards the character, Mitchell called it"overwhelming", but in a good way.
