Elliott will get a chance to reunite with former Dallas teammates like Tony Pollard, who has taken over an increased workload at RB.
Pollard leads the NFL with 62 carries entering Week 4. He’s touched the ball 74 times, the most by a player in a Dallas uniform since Elliott had 76 touches three games deep into his rookie season seven years ago.“It means I can handle it,’’ he said.Elliott, meanwhile, has begun his Patriots career with 28 carries for 122 yards. He spells Rhamondre Stevenson, who leads New England in rushing and is tied for third in receptions.
“Zeke was very loved in this locker room,’’ said receiver Michael Gallup, who lived near Elliott in Frisco. “Everybody. He was always good to people, to folks, especially the rookies coming in. He would take them out to eat and stuff like that. Come over to the crib.Gallup was one of the teammates that Elliott took under his wing. There were plenty of others. Whether it was going out to eat or getting a group together to play video games, Elliott was at the center of it all.
“As he ran by me, I thought, ‘My God, that guy’s got a big head,’’ McCarthy recalled. “That’s a big man.’’“I mean he’s always going to be loved here,’’ McCarthy said. “The love that he has still today in the locker room is tremendous. “Anyone that gets released or gets cut, it’s going to be tough mentally,’’ Elliott said. “But I mean, life is life. It is what it is. It’s just on me to get back on the horse.
