It's a festive favourite
The Everyman Theatre has confirmed its beloved rock 'n' roll pantomime will return this Christmas, with a new version of Little Red Riding Hood.
One staple of the Everyman calendar is its unrelentingly popular rock 'n' roll pantomime, which usually dominates the theatre across the Christmas period, from late November until January. It's a firm feature for many Liverpool families, who pack out the auditorium while sporting tinsel and light-up accessories.
This year's pantomime, Red Riding Hood, will be a little different to previous shows as, for the first time in 19 years, it won't be penned by seasoned rock 'n' roll panto writers, Mark Chatterton and Sarah Nixon. The couple were let go, with a new creative team set to bring their expertise to this year's festivities.
Lucy Cullingford was choreographer for the rock 'n' roll panto back in 2001 and 2002 and has since worked extensively for the RSC, National Theatre and on numerous West End and Broadway shows. Veterans of numerous past pantos, the theatres' resident sound designer Ian Davies and costume supervisor Jacquie Davies, together with actor Adam Keast, will also make a welcome return.
