George Lucas brainstormed countless characters for his original Star Wars script in 1974, and some of them later appeared in the prequel trilogy.
The Star Wars prequel trilogy introduced several new characters to the franchise, but many of them trace their origins to George Lucas' original script from 1974. The first movie was initially called The Star Wars and had a very different story before it became the foundation of an entire saga. While some characters were nearly identical to their final onscreen versions, others were radically different, going through numerous changes in Lucas' various drafts.
Annikin went through several changes in subsequent revisions, having his name changed to Justin Valor in the first draft in July 1974. Justin/Annikin was then changed to Luke and essentially split into two characters, with Han Solo taking his "womanizing ways and cavalier attitude" and Luke embodying his "serious" and "metaphysical" side.
3 Queen Breha Queen Breha of Alderaan only made a brief appearance as Leia's adoptive mother in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. In the original rough draft of The Star Wars, she was Queen Breha of Aquilae and the mother of a 14-year-old Princess Leia. She orders General Skywalker and the other heroes to flee to the Ophuchi system when the Empire attacks, and she is seemingly killed when the fortress self-destructs to ensure that no one will betray them later on.
