From Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to the third film in The Mummy series, Michelle Yeoh's action movie filmography is varied, but she always amazes.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Very few actors have been synonymous with the action genre for as long as screen legend and history-making Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. Although she trained to become a professional dancer, an injury early in her fledgling career pushed Yeoh to pursue choreography and drama. In the '80s, Yeoh made a name for herself in the Hong Kong cinema scene, appearing in martial arts films.
27 Mechanic: Resurrection A sequel to 2011's The Mechanic, Mechanic: Resurrection stars Jason Statham as hitman Arthur Bishop. After faking his own death, Bishop is found out and, in order to escape his gun-for-hire life, seeks refuge with a long-time friend, Mei . While Yeoh does team up with Statham to save the day, it's an incredibly brief team-up, which is a shame considering both actors' storied histories in the action genre.
23 The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor This 2008 action-adventure romp caps off The Mummy trilogy. Although it still stars Brendan Fraser as adventurer Rick O'Connell, the third installment trades Rachel Weisz for Maria Bello and swaps its usual Egypt setting for China. Michelle Yeoh joins the franchise as the legendary sorceress Zi Yuan — someone the titular emperor sought out centuries ago in order to claim her immortality as his own.
20 Silver Hawk Well before the Marvel Cinematic Universe took Hollywood — and the world — by storm, Michelle Yeoh starred as the titular hero in the Hong Kong superhero flick Silver Hawk. Leaning into the more absurd elements of comic book fare, Yeoh's superhero wears a ridiculous mask and outfit, all while cruising the streets on a motorcycle and using her martial arts prowess to rescue pandas.
17 Tomorrow Never Dies Tomorrow Never Dies is the second James Bond film to star Pierce Brosnan as the renowned MI6 agent. Michelle Yeoh's Wai Lin allies with 007 to stop an unhinged media mogul from inciting World War III. Like many Bond films, Tomorrow Never Dies has its memorable moments — including several Yeoh-starring fight sequences — but while it's more grounded than some of the other Brosnan outings, it isn't necessarily a standout entry in the long-running series.
14 Boss Level The 2020 sci-fi film Boss Level stars Frank Grillo as Roy Pulver, an ex-special forces soldier stuck in a never-ending time loop. While Roy might be eager to escape his deadly Groundhog Day scenario, it's a blast for viewers. Over-the-top and surprisingly inventive, Boss Level riffs on video games, all while providing Yeoh with a platform for showing off her impressive martial arts abilities.
