Esperanza was founded in 1983 and is located on West 25th Street just south of Interstate 90. It began as a community project to improve the educational opportunities for Hispanics by motivating and recognizing academic achievement through scholarships.
These scholarships help students in Northeast Ohio that Ruiz believes “do not provide the bilingual or culturally competent support that our community members need to be successful.”
