Despite Man United losing more games than they have won, Erik ten Hag believes the squad is not lacking in leaders.
Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, available for transfer in the summer, are among the players displaying leadership skills, according to manager Erik ten Hag. United have endured their worst start to a season since 1973-74 - the last time they were relegated - by losing nine of their opening 17 games.
However, Varane has started one of the last seven United games, while Martinez and Casemiro are sidelined until Christmas at least. Maguire and McTominay, the subject of separate £30million offers from West Ham, have regained their places in the team and Ten Hag has been impressed by their character during a chastening spell.
A theme of United's chaotic Champions League campaign has been goal gluts against them. Bayern Munich scored twice in four minutes, Galatasaray struck twice within 10 minutes - and squandered a penalty in between - while Copenhagen put two past United in the last nine minutes of the first half in midweek and they scored their equaliser and winner in the 83rd and 87th minutes.
