The deal included a clause which would activate a new 12-month contract at the Allianz Arena if he played a certain number of games at Bayern. He has played six times for Thomas Tuchel's side, including four starts for the defending Bundesliga champions.
Cheltenham-born Dier joined Tottenham in a £4m deal from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and made 274 Premier League appearances for the club. However, he made just one league start under Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou before he followed Harry Kane to Bavaria
