It’s the latest infant formula recall involving possible contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii, a common bacteria.
Operation Fly Formula, importing product from around the world to stock store shelves. Those efforts offered some relief, but there were still widespread shortages on grocery shelves, according to the market research firm IRI.is harmless to most, it can be debilitating or deadly for newborns and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes and jaundice, among others.
Enfamil is the nation’s biggest brand in the baby food market. And though progress has been made in replenishing U.S. stocks, it is still trying to return supplies to normal levels, a Reckitt executive told Reuters.“I suspect that will persist to some degree until the spring resets,” Reckitt senior vice president Robert Cleveland told the newswire. “There is much more volume on shelves than a few months ago, and enough to feed America’s babies.
The recalled batches of Enfamil ProSobee can be identified by the number on the bottom of the can, with recalled product batches labeled with both of the identifiers ZL2HZF and ZL2HZZ. Recalled products will also have a UPC code of 300871214415 and a “Use By Date” of March 1, 2024.
