What happens in Endeavour season 8?
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Endeavour season 8 once again follows the titular Endeavour Morse in the early days of his detective work with the Oxford City Police CID. Endeavour is the third show in the British murder mystery Inspector Morse series following the original Inspector Morse and its spin-off, Lewis. As a prequel series, Endeavour shows how Inspector Morse first became a detective constable before rising to the rank of detective sergeant.
Season 7 of Endeavour sees Inspector Morse return from vacation in Italy in 1969. Taking a break from the danger and intrigue of his daily job, Morse begins a doomed romance with Violetta that sees her betray him. PC Jim Strange and DI Frederick Albert Thursday continue to work and butt heads with Morse, and a serial killer brings all the officers together for a tragic showdown.
"Scherzo" "Scherzo" takes place in May 1971, four months after the season premiere. A cab driver is found murdered, and the Oxford City Police believe it may be connected with another string of assaults. Morse’s stepmother Gwen pays him a visit and painful memories of his past are brought to the surface, further exacerbating his alcoholism. Strange begins a romance with Thursday’s daughter, Joan .
"Terminus" In the Endeavor season 8 finale, a bus passenger is gruesomely murdered and two days later, Morse finds himself on the very same bus, trapped in a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among the passengers. Suffering from withdrawal with no alcohol available, Morse is forced to use his wits and knowledge to find out who the killer is.
Meanwhile, Sam Thursday goes AWOL in Northern Ireland, setting his family and Strange on edge. Finally, Morse discovers the identity of the killer, who was murdering passengers one by one. As the snow thaws and the surviving passengers escape the bus, Morse, a slightly changed man, decides to take time off, as Thursday suggested to him, in order to address the issues he’s been experiencing all throughout Endeavour season 8.
