... [+]: The Tesla CEO has been a prominent skeptic of the coronavirus crisis, branding the pandemic “dumb” but on Monday confirmed that he had donated 1,200 ventilators to Los Angeles to help the city’s fight against the pneumonia-like virus.
The Tesla CEO tweeted that he had bought 1,255 FDA-approved medical ventilators from China on Friday evening and had them flown into Los Angeles. “Elon Musk: How about this? I told you a few days ago he was likely to have 1,000 ventilators this week,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom at aon Monday. ““They arrived in Los Angeles, and Elon Musk is already working with the hospital association and others to get those ventilators out in real time. It’s an heroic effort.”
The entrepreneur thanked the Tesla China team and customs officials in China and Los Angeles for facilitating the shipment of the medical devices, which are a crucial tool in treating patients with respiratory symptoms from Covid-19.
