Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said in a statement Friday that President Biden should “carefully evaluate” whether to continue running for reelection, the latest Democratic Party official to signal their discomfort with the 81-year-old’s candidacy after his debate performance last week, where he appeared tired and delivered some incoherent answers.
” In the statement, Healey praised Biden for having “saved our democracy in 2020 and has done an outstanding job over the last four years.” She also said she is “deeply grateful for his leadership. And I know he agrees this is the most important election of our lifetimes.” “The best way forward right now is a decision for the president to make,” said Healey, who was among the group of governors with whom Biden met Wednesday evening.
