'As this fast paced and dynamic investigation is progressing, we have committed a significant number of resources to the area.'
Stop and search powers in Bury have been extended to eight Metrolink stations after a spate of violent knife crime in the borough since Monday. They wil stay in place until tomorrow afternoon.
Yesterday a fourth suspect was arrested in connection with the triple stabbing. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has since been bailed. The arrest was in relation to a stabbing that took place at around 12.15pm, which left three males with injuries that were not life-threatening.
In the immediate afteramath of that incident a Section 60 order was imposed from 6.30pm on Monday covering areas of the town centre to 'help prevent further incidents.' Officers were able to stop and search anyone without suspicion in these areas until it was lifted at 6.30pm yesterday. But now a new order has been issued.
The Section 60 will be in place until 2pm tomorrow covering areas of the town centre, Whitefield and the Metrolink lines to help prevent further incidents. The entire Metrolink lines include stations and surroundings at Bury, Radcliffe, Whitefield, Besses, Prestwich, Heaton Park and Bowker Vale.
