Vote Matt Mahan for S.J. mayor, Jeff Rosen for Santa Clara County DA and Bob Jonsen for sheriff
Voters won’t be selecting a president this year, but the June 7 primary election will shape Bay Area politics for years to come.
The next mayor will need to bring creativity and fiscal responsibility to the job. This is where Mahan shines. He is the only candidate advocating for greater accountability at City Hall on San Jose’s highest priority issues. Mahan is a good listener who has shown a willingness to forge compromise. His heart, energy and common-sense approach makes him the best candidate to follow Sam Liccardo as San Jose’s next mayor.Voters should reelect Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen for a fourth term in office.
Neither of his opponents, deputy public defender Sajid Khan and former deputy district attorney Daniel Chung, have Rosen’s experience prosecuting a wide range of cases or managing an office with 600 prosecutors, investigators, criminalists and support staff.Santa Clara County desperately needs a new sheriff who can restore integrity and trust to a department that is in disarray under current Sheriff Laurie Smith’s failed leadership.
