The district needs consistency, and a second term for McKee-Rodriguez would offer it.
District 2 City Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez has earned a second term, but should he be re-elected, he needs to take the criticisms of his challengers to heart. What the city’s District 2 needs most is consistent and effective representation. That hasn’t existed since 2014 when then-City Councilwoman Ivy Taylor ascended to mayor, leading to a revolving door of representatives.to this seat, recognizing his progressive policies and youthful vision.
That hasn’t changed, and we recommend McKee-Rodriguez, an educator, for a second term. The district needs consistency. That said, should McKee-Rodriguez be re-elected he would be wise to take to heart why he has nine challengers. During our candidate meeting, challengers voiced concerns about poor constituent services, poor communication, ineffectiveness on City Council and adversarial stances with neighborhood associations and the business community.
