This November will see millions of people across Scotland and beyond come together to celebrate Diwali — and Edinburgh is set to host a spectacular day honouring the festival.
Also known as Deepavali and Dipavali, the festival of lights is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains across the globe. Taking place over five days, it is a celebration of the spiritual triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
In Scotland, though, one major Diwali event will actually be held a week later. On November 19, Edinburgh Diwali will bring the festival of lights to capital with a spectacular all-day celebration. The celebrations will kick off at 12.30pm at St Andrews Square, with a colourful parade that will include bands and dance groups. The parade will move along George Street and Castle Street, before ending in West Princes Street Gardens.
