EDF charged vulnerable customer £1,500 for one day of electricity use in two-bed flat Daniel Harrington, who has Asperger’s syndrome and lives alone, says the bill has caused him ‘a lot of stress and anxiety’ 🔴 SteveRobson04
EDF has apologised to a vulnerable customer who received a bill for more than £1,500 for a single day of electricity after he struggled to meet his direct debit payments.
He has been paying for his energy on a fixed rate tariff with EDF that was due to last until 2024 by a direct debit payment of £60 a month. The situation came to a head in recent weeks when EDF twice attempted to take more than £1,500 from his bank account via direct debit. “We’re sorry to hear about the problems Mr Harrington has been facing,” they added, “we remain committed to helping as many customers as possible this winter, including providing debt relief and installing energy efficiency for those in fuel poverty”.
