The colder weather means people will spend more time inside with others to keep warm
A warning has been issued that we could see a rise in Covid cases over the coming weeks as the weather turns colder.
Health experts have issued the warning just weeks after figures revealed the number of hospital patients testing positive for Covid is England has climbed to a five-month high with Eden and Carlisle recording some of the highest rates. Figures from the NHS showed there were 4,414 patients in hospital who tested positive for Covid as of October 8.This is a rise from the previous week and the highest number recorded since May 4.
Dr Mary Ramsay, director of public health programmes at the UKHSA said: “As we enter the colder months and people begin to mix more indoors, we can expect to see further increases in Covid-19 alongside the usual increases we see in other winter respiratory viruses like flu.
