Economists Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer win 2019 Nobel Economics Prize for work in fighting global poverty
The portraits of Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Michael Kreme, who have been announced the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2019 winners, are seen at a news conference at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, Sweden, October 14, 2019.
Duflo, who phoned into the news conference where the prize was announced, said receiving it was "incredibly humbling." "Even after two centuries of progress against global poverty, I think it is clearly one of the very biggest problems in the world today."
