Wells is highly rated at Fir Park and they have moved to tie him down to a new deal.
The highly-rated midfielder was attracting strong interest from Brighton and Hove Albion, along with English Championship giants Leeds United. The 18-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, however, talks over a new deal are now at an advanced stage and should see Wells putting pen to paper on the extension over the coming weeks.
The teenager is highly-thought of at Motherwell. He made his debut in the Scottish Cup win over Alloa Athletic and came off the bench recently to make his Premiership debut against Aberdeen. Wells was convinced to remain in Lanarkshire by manager Stuart Kettlewell who has shown he is more than willing to give youth a chance at Motherwell.
The likes of Max Johnston and Dean Cornelius came to the fore under him before they moved on in the summer. Now Lennon Miller is a first-team regular and also Luca Ross has also broken in and netted his first senior goal.
