Anyone who cares for someone else for a large part of every week is entitled to a £327 monthly payment from the Department for Work and Pensions , but thousands of these hard-working carers are missing out on this cash boost.
In order to claim, you have to be over the age of 16, not in full time education, and have earnings of £139 or less each week after tax and other expenses. You do not have to be related to the person you are looking after to be eligible, but it is worth checking the criteria on gov.uk before applying, as it can affect other benefit claims.
