Department for Work and Pensions figures show £80m of Pension Credit went unclaimed in Manchester
Many people are missing out on essential cash that they are owed from the Department for Work and Pensions , which is worth up to £218 every week.
1.4 million older people are already claiming the benefit and the number of claimants has been slowly rising as the government works to raise awareness of the tax-free cash boost through postal campaigns. In the North West, roughly £80m of pension credit went unclaimed in the last year, making it important for people to find out if they are eligible.
From April, this will be £218 for people living alone and £332 for couples. People may still be eligible for pension credit if they have not paid National Insurance contributions, have some savings or a small pension, live with their grown-up family, and/or own their own home.
