Police and council officials are trying to crack down on drivers finding crafty ways to evade detection by speed and bus lane cameras. The growing concern is over the use of 'ghost plates' being fitted to cars.
In response, councils and police are now arming themselves with special cameras designed to spot these fake number plates, in an effort to clamp down on rogue drivers. Those who have these dodgy plates fitted can essentially do as they please on the roads undetected, including breaking speed limits and entering bus lanes and low emission zones without paying any charges, reports Birmingham Live.
