Way back in classic Dragon Ball, Oolong made an inappropriate wish upon the Dragon Balls to save the world and that wish created a dark villain in GT.
There has been no shortage of wishes made upon the Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball canon, but one of those wishes stands above the rest as being by far the most inappropriate for almost no reason–and that specific wish secretly created a dark villain who wouldn’t be revealed for decades after the wish was made.
In the classic Dragon Ball series, when the main focus of the story was to hunt for the Dragon Balls of Earth and fight goofy bad guys along the way, Goku and Bulma came across one of those ‘goofy bad guys’ fairly early-on in their Dragon Ball hunt. After arriving at a small village, Bulma and Goku learn that the villagers are being harassed by a giant monster.
The irony in this episode is that the Shadow Dragon whose birth coincided with the most absurd wish in the franchise is actually the most terrifying. The Six-Star Shadow Dragon is unlike the other Shadow Dragons in that it presents itself as a beautiful young woman who makes it rain sealife down upon a fishing village, so the fishermen don’t have to work and can simply sell this sealife at the market for total profit.
A cosmic horror beyond the understanding of mortal men, created from a wish for women’s panties by a shapeshifting pig in order to save the world. Definitely one of the weirder developments in Dragon Ball, but one that isn’t without a hilarious sense of irony as Dragon Ball’s most inappropriate wish secretly created a dark villain.
