A 19-year-old Southern Methodist University student was killed, and another person was injured Sunday afternoon in Dallas when a woman suspected of drunken driving ran a red light and crashed into their car, police say.
A little after 4 p.m. Sunday, Honor Elizabeth Wallace and a female passenger were traveling east on Monticello Avenue with a green light at the North Central Expressway service road, Dallas police said. Lynlee Pollis, 27, was traveling northbound on the service road and ran a red light, crashing into the victims.Police said all three were sent to a local hospital, where Wallace died from her injuries. The passenger is in stable condition, and Pollis suffered minor injuries.

Pollis was arrested after the collision and faces felony charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxication assault with serious bodily injury, police said. It’s not clear if she has an attorney or if she still is in Dallas County custody.
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, a Dallas police officer responded to an area hospital, where Pollis was sent, and observed that she had “glassy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from her. Pollis told an officer that she had a single margarita with tequila shots infused, the affidavit said.
