U.S. stocks opened sharply lower on Thursday amid growing concern over the uncertain outlook for the U.S. growth trajectory and a rise in COVID-19 cases in some states. The S&P 500 SPX, -2.33% fell 2.4% to 3,112. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -2.70% shed 771 points, or 2.9%, to 26,219. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -2.
