Donald Trump was in court today for the first day of one of the most high-profile criminal cases in US history. The first former president to face criminal charges, he is accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to the porn star Stormy Daniels.
Donald Trump will be 'hating the humiliation', says biographer Michael Wolff.He is looking for ways to exploit the case for political advantage, but 'I don't think he's found them yet', he says.'It's a strange moment for him, to be locked in a courtroom all day and I'm not sure that he has quite figured out how to position this as good news when it is so clearly very bad news.'Mr Trump will have to attend court every day of the trial.
He argues the prosecution has laid out a 'meticulous' case that could be 'compelling' but the defence 'stumbled around'.'They obviously haven't gotten a grip on what their case is.'One of interesting things will be to see how Donald Trump reacts to that. 'Donald Trump is famous for blaming anything that goes wrong on his lawyers, and for really going after, really attacking his own lawyers.
