A new survey published by CBS News found that almost six-in-ten Americans disapproved of Trump's race relations record.

President Donald Trump claimed that he"did criminal justice reform" on Thursday night as new polling showed that most U.S. adults disapproved of his handling of race relations.

"Sleepy Joe Biden's 1994 Crime Bill was a total disaster. It was mass incarceration for Black people, many of them innocent," the president tweeted."I did Criminal Justice Reform, something Obama & Biden didn't even try to do - & couldn't do even if they did try. Biden can never escape his Crime Bill!"

In December 2018, President Trump signed the bipartisan First Step Act into law, reducing the mandatory minimum sentences for drug crimes while allowing more federal prisoners to earn early release.
