Don’t Washington my Texas: Eliminating minority chairs in the Legislature could backfire | Opinion
recent speaker election debacle in D.C.
. This is just like D.C., where the ruling party controls all the chairmanships. This type of brazen partisanship is what birthed what many, including myself, believe to be the hollow Jan. 6th Committee. Nearly half of all Americans disregarded that committee’s findings because they saw it as beholden to partisan Democrats. We don’t need that in Texas.
Believe it or not, there are some issues that are simply not partisan. In fact, most issues aren’t. I served two sessions on the House Transportation Committee, and during one of those sessions Democrat Rep. Joe Pickett of El Paso served as the chairman. Transportation is not partisan.
