A domestic abuse thug battered his girlfriend in a drunken attack at a wedding. Roland Povall also smashed a teenager over the head with a mug and then slashed his face with the broken handle.
Liverpool Echo reports that prosecuting barrister Gerald Baxter told Preston Crown Court yesterday: "At 11pm was in the room with his brother. "He was worried the defendant was going to attack and grabbed his shoulders and pulled him back." Povall told him to get out but the teenager refused and the fracas spilled into a hotel corridor. Povall picked up a mug and hit the boy over the head with it.

The court heard yesterday that the victims had declined to provide impact statements and no request was made for restraining orders. Defending, Richard English said there was little mitigation other than the guilty pleas.
