Connecting videos directly to the police is a bad idea. It really is a terrible slippery slope.The survey listed in the article indicated a majority of voters don’t like the idea. How about listening to the people for a change?Most studies have not proven that surveillance cameras deter crime as a single solution. Yet, in the city of Rialto, protest over the police killings of Black men highlighted the need for greater police accountability. Now police must wear body cameras.
In the fight against crime, police have always used technology. Also, it could be used to keep societies safe. Private property will always be protected by the rule of law from unwarranted intrusions. It is unfortunate that the Gen Z generation was not provided with a solid education regarding national history, civics and values.
In regards to freedoms, they have been conditioned differently than any previous generation, and they will have to live with the decisions they make today.
