.TheDemocrats chair HarrisonJaime called out RepNancyMace on a press call, claiming that her moderate posture on the issue of abortion is for show. Harrison claimed Mace will 'say one thing...then when she goes on the floor, she votes another way.'
The Democratic National Committee, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee are anticipating abortion playing a decisive role in the 2024 elections — and they're not convinced by Republican candidates who are appealing to voters as centrists on the issue.
Mace told the Washington Examiner in a statement,"I’m not going to be lectured by those who support abortion up to the moment of birth." She further encouraged the DNC to"keep trying to fundraise off me if they want, but our focus will continue to be on finding solutions, not playing politics with women and children.”The South Carolina congresswoman maintains a"B" rating with top anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. However, she has voted against the organization's wishes in the past.
The Republican reportedly expressed displeasure during a closed-door meeting with Republican leadership earlier this month, during which plans were announced to take up a proposal to fortify limits on taxpayer-funded abortion. “Why the hell are we doing this?" Mace asked Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Majority Whip Tom Emmer , per Politico.
