A TikTok video says a water line break has created a giant swamp in Dallas' Great Trinity Forest. The Dallas Morning News looked into the claim.
Upon learning of the leak in a wetlands area behind the Rochester levee, south of downtown Dallas, staff immediately closed the segment of the line suspected of leaking, Cuellar said. Workers kept an 8-inch bypass line operable to maintain pressure.During the investigation, Dallas Water Utilities lowered the volume of water flowing through the pipe and transferred customers’ water service to other area lines.
“Due to the complexity of these system adjustments, it took several months to pinpoint the leak and isolate the location,” Cuellar said.Advertisement Cuellar did not immediately respond to a request for more information, including how many gallons of water were discharged or when officials think the leak began. The creator of the video, who did not respond to a message seeking comment, said he estimates the swampy area just off U.S. Highway 175 is 30 to 40 feet across. Since it was posted Monday, the video has netted more than 32,000 likes and more than 1,500 comments.
