Kate Garraway and Derek Draper's latest documentary which airs on Tuesday 26 March, shows the impact of Covid-19 in Derek's final year - and the emotional toll it took on them both
Kate Garraway’s new film, Kate Garraway: Derek's Story, depicts the final year of her husband’s life, from how they went about everyday life, to the changes in their marriage.
As Kate talks about Derek’s health in the film, she says that becoming his carer affected their relationship, as she admits: "I have accepted that , but how that translates into the relationship is a work in progress.” During the documentary, Kate also revealed the tough financial situation that has hit her after Covid. She said: "Derek's care costs more than my salary from ITV and that is before you pay for a mortgage, before you pay any household bills, before you pay for anything for the kids, so we are at a crunch point.”
