For the next two weeks, a capital murder defendant accused of killing a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy will represent himself.

"There's no more serious case than a capital murder case in which the death penalty is being sought," Isbell said."Mr. Solis has had experience in the court system and if anybody is qualified, I guess he is to represent himself."The body language of the prosecutors intensified as the realization sank in that they would deal directly with Solis amid the trial, rather than the defense lawyers they had worked alongside for years.

She knew something was wrong when she saw his door ajar and the emergency lights on. She spotted Dhaliwal on the ground and rushed to give him CPR, quickly realizing that he would not survive.
