According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will reach a record high of 77 degrees on Thursday, breaking the record set in 1921 at 76 degrees. The mostly sunny day will turn into a partly cloudy evening as temperatures fall to 38 degrees. The heat means an afternoon of elevated fire conditions for parts of the state.
Friday will be warm again, with a high of 71 degrees, but winds will pick up to 25 mph. The winds will signal a change of weather pattern. There’s a 60% chance of precipitation after sunset. Snow is likely in the mountains and rain in the metro area that eventually switches over to snow. The urban corridor could get hit with some thunderstorms, bringing lightning and hail. Denver’s low will fall to 34 degrees; new snow accumulation will be less than a half-inch.
