Some parts of the pitch in Tayside looks sodden with the areas surrounding it not in great nick either.
Heavy rain has put the game in doubt – and new footage is putting a literal dampener on hopes that Dundee and Rangers will get going tonight.
The clash at Dens Park is scheduled to be Philippe Clement's first away match in the Premiership, as he aims to maintain his unbeaten start to life at the Ibrox helm. Counterpart Tony Docherty has called on the home fans to get loud and behind the team for when they become underdogs in this clash, but his cries could prove futile.
After a statement from the club insisted they were 'optimistic' of getting the ball rolling in Tayside, a fresh clip has shown the state of play at Dens. Wet and sodden, water can be seen surrounding of one of the drains near the right-hand corner flag and surrounding areas in front of the goal where Rangers fans will occupy. The home end doesn't look much better.
A pipe with water flowing out of it can also be seen in the video as groundstaff face a fight to keep the game on. Kick-off is due to be at 19:45 but it doesn’t look good. However, Dundee FC still believe the game will go ahead. You can watch the footage here... The club statement reads: "Dundee Football Club are currently monitoring the weather conditions due to the recent heavy rainfall. As it currently stands the club are optimistic that this evening’s match against Rangers at The Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park will go ahead as planned. If there are any updates or changes regarding tonight’s match the club will update supporters through the club website and social media channels.
