Filibusters against Trump’s nominees have hit historic highs — just the latest evidence that the Senate’s confirmation process is nearly broken. Burgess and Marianne with the story: “George W. Then Trump came along and became the record holder in just part of a term, according to a POLITICO analysis of Senate votes.
Fifty-four percent said they approved of his handling of the economy in late May, down from 62 in April. Fifty-two percent of respondents said Congress “needs to invest more” in its coronavirus response, compared to 43 percent who pointed to the $3 trillion already spent. Even more said Congress needs to dole out cash to state and local governments. The polling, conducted between May 19 and May 24, covers 41 districts won by Trump in 2016 and 16 districts won by Clinton.
