After decades under Hollywood's male gaze, Demi Moore (justdemi) stars and serves as executive producer on DirtyDiana, a new six-episode podcast promising to reset the sexual narrative from the female lens.
Demi, what was your first reaction whenDemi Moore: Definitely not, and, in fact, it's the very reason why I wanted to do it—because there's so much unspoken shame attached to our sexuality. It's this conditioning telling us that it's only okay for us to desire sex if it's for the purpose of procreation or if it's somebody that we intend to be with for the rest of our lives.
Moore: If we want balance, if we want equality, then we need to create it. We've had so much of “men are more physical and women are more emotional” and the reality is, we are all both. We have been categorized in our desirability based on our fertility, and that's a real misunderstanding. Our desire is not limited to the range of our childbearing years, and I think we need to see it. We need to understand it.
