Max Hartley, 19, of Avon, Ohio, was charged with four counts of criminal mischief, two counts of battery and abusing a disabled adult for his alleged attack of Allen.
Allen shared the update in an Instagram post Monday, expressing gratitude for the support he’s received from fans and the public since being attacked earlier this month.
“Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support. Your love and prayers are truly helping,” Allen wrote in. “My wife Lauren was thankfully not with me at the time of the incident. We are together now, and working on recovering in a safe space. We are focusing on healing for everyone involved. We ask you to join us in our effort to move from confusion and shock to compassion and empathy. We understand this act of violence can be triggering for so many people.
The 59-year-old Allen, who lost his left arm in a 1984 car accident, had been performing with Def Leppard at a South Florida casino during the weekend of March 11, according to reports. Allen was smoking a cigarette outside of a hotel when he was attacked, and a woman who tried assisting Allen was also attacked in the confrontation.
Def Leppard, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, begins its upcoming “The World Tour” on May 22 in the United Kingdom before concluding the tour Aug. 18 in El Paso, Texas.
