Deer Park Bronco all-stars cruise to Directors Tournament title

Deer Park probably put itself in the Pony Baseball record books by tying the mark for most doubles in one inning when they clouted four during a 14-run second inning as the team romped over La Porte 21-0 at Renwick Park Monday night. Lost in the avalanche of runs was the fact that Ethan Sauceda pitched a four-inning no-hitter. A second inning walk and a third inning throwing error kept Sauceda from an abbreviated perfect game. He struck out 10.
If the Houston area just got blitzed by a 78-7 count, it means Deer Park may not get any true competition until the South Zone Tournament next month when the Rio Grande Valley teams head north to the Ruth Minchen Athletic Complex.La Porte, which has been in the loser’s bracket ever since Saturday afternoon, following a 6-5 loss to Friendswood Blue, helped Deer Park by not playing well. Of Deer Park’s 21 runs, a good chunk were due to wild pitches and passed balls.
